Job Summary:
New York Media is seeking a professional to oversee and ensure the accurate and timely pay treatment and processing of paychecks for 250 full-time employees and approximately 40 temporary workers with timesheets on a semi-monthly basis. Will also be knowledgeable of and provide perspective on federal and state payroll and tax regulations. Manage payroll and all employment related issues and requests from employees as well as outside parties.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll accurately and timely on a semi-monthly schedule.
• Answer employee questions related to payroll: W2s, iPay, paystubs, pay verifications, and any other pay issues.
• Maintain accurate and up to date information and run standard and ad-hoc reports on the ADP payroll system and/orHRIS.
• Manage temporary workers: paperwork, folders and filing. Act as point person for all temporary workers.
• Coordinate and ensure that the preparation and payments of all statutory reports and filings are disbursed timely and accurately.
• Research new state and federal laws regarding pay and taxes in order to add perspective to Finance andHR. Stay abreast of new payroll regulations to help insure that all requirements are met.
• Handle unemployment insurance inquiries
• Provide verification of employment requests.
• Maintain profile within the company as point person for pay-related issues
• Assist with gathering backup and preparing various reports for various external audits throughout the year.
• Assist the Finance department with other accounting functions, such as reconciling cash balances, and payroll related journal entries.
• Work with theHRdepartment to manage theHRIS to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Periodically review procedures and policies and recommend and implement changes to increase efficiency.
• In conjunction withHR, manage all documentation and workflows surrounding new hires, payroll changes, and terminations.
Requirements:
• Significant payroll experience in a comparable fast-paced business environment and knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws.
• Extensive experience with payroll and knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements.
• Initiative and independent judgment in carrying out job responsibilities and creative innovation to streamline and monitor business process to ensure effective operations and efficient delivery of payroll services.
• Minimum of three years payroll management experience required.
• Experience with ADP and aHRIS is highly preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Active membership in a payroll professional association highly desirable, but not required.
