Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Physician Executive, Quality and Clinical Initiatives, the Assistant Vice President will work with the Quality and Clinical division to stay abreast of current clinical regulatory affairs, advisories, and quality reporting, supporting member organizations in their understanding and implementation of requirements to achieve the best possible patient care.
This position is ideal for someone looking to transition from a nursing leadership position and leverage their clinical background to support policy and advocacy efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Senior Vice President and Physician Executive, Quality and Clinical Initiatives, on the quality and clinical strategic vision and portfolio for GNYHA member hospitals
- Analyze and distill new and changing public health agency clinical, operational, and quality policies for member organizations; Communicate, both in writing and verbally, and support members in the understanding and implementation of these policies.
- Develop meaningful and productive relationships with hospital clinical and operational leaders and staff
- Consult with clinical leads to inform our advocacy related to evolving local, State, and Federal policies and convene when appropriate.
- Work closely with government agencies at the local, State, and Federal level to interpret regulations and ensure member needs are met.
- Quickly disseminate best practices related to new and/or challenging laws and regulations.
- Forge relationships with key stakeholders at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, New York State Department of Health, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and other entities to best serve the member hospitals/health systems.
- Field requests and support members on all aspects of their clinical operational activities.
- Collaborate with GNYHA colleagues across all departments to plan internal and member meetings, including GNYHA workgroups, forums, and PI initiatives to ensure a cohesive program design for member hospitals
- Support the Quality and Clinical team in the design, planning, and implementation of improvement initiatives for GNYHA member hospitals, including measurement plans
- Lead various projects and carry out specific research, analysis, and/or group facilitation functions
- Engage fully in GNYHA’s organizational priorities, mission, and goals and ensure programming reflects these elements
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in healthcare-related field
- 5+ years of work experience in a clinical setting with experience with New York State laws and regulatory requirements relating to hospital care, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations and clinical quality reporting and performance programs, and hospital accreditation standards.
- Experience in project management and meeting multiple deadlines.
- Experience drafting high-level presentations, memoranda, and other written material.
- Experience training and presenting to small and large groups, in-person and/or virtually
- Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, including Excel
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and detail oriented with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
- Dynamic, energetic, motivated, positive outlook with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) and/or Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS)
- Strong program, project and process management skills, with certification in quality improvement models or methodologies (i.e., Lean, Six-Sigma, Model for Improvement/Plan-Do-Study-Act) strongly desired
Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000
The salary range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement. When determining exact compensation, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, skills, budget, and internal equity).

Work Schedule: A hybrid model with the expectation to work physically in our office Tuesdays and Wednesdays as mandatory in-office days with a third in-office day at your discretion, in coordination with your supervisor and in accordance with the business needs of your department. This schedule may be subject to change in GNYHA’s sole discretion. This is a full-time position.
