JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as an adjunct to the Technical Director and Quality Manager to assure customer claims are reviewed, documented, and processed in a timely manner. Also, responsible for maintaining and updating all the associated Quality Department databases and serves as a back- up for Incoming Quality Tech.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Input new claims in Product Concerns and Returns database.

Inspect submitted samples of defective film in conjunction with Quality Eng.

Review and report on inventory of suspect film based on claim
-
Communicate findings with Quality Manager/Sales/Production as necessary

Compute costing of claims
-
Maintain Tolerance/Cert Databases
-
Input all incoming C of As into system
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create and post Quality Alerts as required.

Attend weekly Claims Meetings for status reporting

Attend daily Production Meeting

Attend weekly MRB Meeting

Assist Incoming Quality Tech with duties as needed

Investigates product quality problems using 8D methods, determines root cause, gathers and analyzes data and implements corrective action to reduce or eliminate cause.

Perform a root cause analysis using statistical methods (e.g., design of experiment (DOE), DMAIC, 8D, and other problem solving tools. Performs Process Capability Analysis (Cpk), GR&R, and other statistical techniques aimed at reducing variance and improving yields. Interacts with representatives from a variety of functional groups, including design, manufacturing, engineering,

purchasing, production and inspection, personnel, and customer and supplier representatives on quality issues.

Performs all work in a manner providing safety and health of self and other plant personnel.

Supports manufacturing by troubleshooting issues that either cause or potentially cause work stoppages and reduced throughput times.

Implements corrective action to reduce or eliminate cause.

Promotes the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools

Promotes a safe work environment.

Uses 5S techniques in the workplace/area.

Responsible for following all ISO processes and procedures
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Discipline, specifically, Polymer Chemistry, Plastics or Materials.

Specific certifications and experience may substitute for degree.
-
Statistical process control techniques and assessment experience.
-
Root Cause Analysis, Corrective Action and Improvement Plan experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

Experience with ISO.
-
Experience with quality improvement techniques, technical audit and corrective/preventative action is desired.

Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience desired.

Experience in a web handling environment (roll-to-roll) preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods during the day. Also, reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to move materials throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques required. Working conditions are normal for a laboratory and a manufacturing environment. While performing duties of this position, the employee must take the appropriate safety precautions and/or don the appropriate safety PPE when working in areas that may contain fumes, airborne particles, ultra violet radiation, toxic or caustic chemicals, etc. The employee may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. This position may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Occasional travel may also be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and steel toe or composite toe shoes.
