Duties:
· Lead a variety of programs and experiences that support healthy development of social, developmental and intellectual needs, in line with Smart Start values and philosophy and Nevada Pre-K standards.
· Interact with children and encourage their involvement in activities.
· Plan weekly lesson plans consistent with the center’s developmental philosophy and objectives.
· Operate the classroom in compliance with all child care licensing standards, and BGCWN and Policy Handbooks.
· Prepare supplies and materials for lessons and exercises.
· Develop a comprehensive understanding of positive discipline objectives and outcomes.
· Regularly interact with all children under teacher’s care.
· Establish positive relationships with parents and co-workers.
· Use words and body language that show compassion for each child’s and family’s unique circumstances.
· Assist with monitoring supply inventory and notify lead teacher of any supply needs.
· Oversee children under supervision, including observing, recording, and reporting individual and group behavior per Smart Start protocols.
· Foster a sense of teamwork with co-workers by participating in all activities, including cleaning, housekeeping, toileting, and meal service.
· Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment, and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures.
· Maintain a clean, open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere in which children and families feel comfortable and secure.
· Collaborate with other teachers and Director to create and implement intentional family nights every month.
· Other duties as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: Cleaning & organizing CDC kitchen and supplies.
Requirements:
· All employees are required to submit fingerprints to local and federal repositories for background checks prior to start date.
o APPLICANT COST: $8 for one fingerprint cards payable to Carson City Sheriff's Dept.
o Federal background check APPLICANT COST: $40.25
o TB skin test clearance EMPLOYEE COST: Varies
· This is a part time, 30 hour a week position. 12 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday.
o Staff development days are subject to different hours.
· Requirements for the duration of employment:
o Employees must take the State of Nevada required initial training within the first 30 days of employment.
o Employees must complete 24 hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related subjects every licensing year of employment.

Qualifications:
· High school Diploma or equivalent (Required)
· Experience working with children
· Fluency in Spanish is desirable.
