TITLE: FAIR HOUSING INVESTIGATOR/TESTER
AGENCY: Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) is a not-for-profit agency founded in 1963 that assists victims of housing discrimination, conducts programs of community education, and provides ancillary counseling and information services.
QUALIFICATIONS: Investigators must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. Investigators must also complete HOME’s Training Course. Investigators must not have any prior felony convictions or convictions of crimes involving fraud or perjury.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Investigators act as bona fide homeseekers to help HOME examine the practices of housing providers, lenders and homeowners’ insurance companies. Investigators contemporaneously document their experience and report that information to HOME in a timely manner.
HOME is seeking part-time, on-call employees with a commitment to civil rights and to equal opportunity in housing for all people. Fair housing investigators aid in the investigation of housing discrimination complaints and help monitor the general practices of those involved in the sale or rental of housing to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local fair housing laws. Fair housing investigators receive $80 for each site visit and $45 for each phone test completed, plus mileage reimbursement.
