Position Summary:
Arkansas State University is looking for a dynamic and organized individual to join our Human Resource team as a Benefits Coordinator. In this role, the benefits coordinator will oversee the campus employee benefit packages and assist employees with enrollment in and access to the wide array of benefit offerings.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides customer assistance for benefits, answering questions and using problem solving skills as necessary to ensure benefits available are understood by employees, retirees & Cobra recipients and that any problems encountered are properly resolved by working with the employee and the carrier
- Monitor online enrollment for new employees and during annual open enrollment, explaining benefits available and provide assistance with online enrollment.
- Coordinate and oversee annual Benefits Fair for employees.
- Provide benefit overview's for potential candidates during the recruitment process.
- Process online Life Insurance, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability employee claims with the carrier
- Process termination of benefits and COBRA notifications
- Process Unemployment Claims for the University by researching facts and reporting appropriately
- Provide general assistance to employees and supervisors regarding policies and procedures, seeking assistance as necessary
- Process Employee Tuition Discount Forms and Housing Forms
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of human resource rules and regulations related to employee benefit programs, COBRA and other federal/state guidelines.
Knowledge of software programs.
Ability to interpret and apply the provisions of laws, regulations, and policies to specific situations.
Ability to prepare and present written and oral information and reports via various communication methods.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
Knowledge of benefit programs, retirement plans.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Must be a skilled problem solver while also working with various HR partners.
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed

Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of an earned Bachelor's Degree in human resources, public administration or a related field. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
