Under the supervision of the AR Manager, the role of the AR Specialist in the Revenue Cycle Management department is to follow up on any unpaid insurance claims in a timely and professional manner, serve as the primary contact for third party reimbursement issues, while ensuring proper payment and adjustment application has been performed. Accepting remote applicants for Accounts Receivable Specialist from the State of Texas. Must have high speed internet.
Essential Functions Hospital Insurance Collector
Ensure all claims are collected timely within the goals set forth by management until the claim is paid or deemed uncollectable
Update patient account information with the actions taken to collect payment
Reviews RAs and EOBs to determine the status and or rejection of outstanding claims; take appropriate action to resolve claim
Identify payer issues/concerns while performing appropriate research and escalate accounts as appropriate
Maintain daily, weekly and monthly productivity standards
Work within company attendance guidelines
Work with other team members and management in a professional manner
Experience Required for Hospital Insurance Collector
Three years hospital/physician billing, hospital business office and/or health insurance accounts receivable collections experience
Expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, Workers Comp and all other commercial insurances
Skills Required
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Proficient PC skills, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook (Microsoft office products)
Ability to read, understand, interpret, and resolve payer denials
Ability to research payer regulations and determine appropriate collection action
Ability to utilize multiple patient accounting and billing applications like FISS/DDE, claims clearing house systems, payer systems, etc.
Ability to express ideas effectively using oral and written communication
Ability to apply time management and organization skills to achieve goals
Keyboarding accuracy and math aptitude skills
