JOB SUMMARY:
Analyze project requirements and create accurate cost and time estimates. Consideration must be given to factors such as materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses to determine the total cost of a project. The team member will work with fabricators, engineers, contractors, production and purchasing agents to ensure the project meets the desired specifications and remains within budget. Their goal is to provide reliable estimates that enable effective decision-making for successful project completion.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
- Analyzing project requirements and determining the scope of work.
- Creating accurate cost and time estimates based on project specifications.
- Evaluate project risks and develop contingency plans.
- Collaborating with fabricators, engineers, contractors, production and purchasing agents to ensure accurate estimates.
- Review and analyze project plans and specifications to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare and present proposals to clients and stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs and provide regular progress reports.
- Continuously improving estimating processes and techniques to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Nest quote components using Sigmanest software to ensure efficient use of material in quotes.
- Perform design reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of drawings and models
- Develop Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all designs and modifications.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the design and manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are feasible and can be manufactured efficiently.
- Stay up-to-date on current trends in the industry and make recommendations to the leadership team.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging technology and make recommendations to the leadership team.
- Other responsibilities as directed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:
- At least 3 - 5 years of experience as an estimator or similar role
- Proficient in the use of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Edrawings, etc.) and other related design tools
- Experience in steel fabrication, sheet metal design, and mechanical part design.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Strong understanding of construction and fabrication principles and design processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong project management skills with ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft office products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
