Responsible for systems administration in a mission-critical environment. Support systems including store operations, e-commerce, purchasing, accounting, compliance, customer service, distribution, and logistics. Follow technical direction and dependably execute operational responsibilities. Report to IT Director and Systems Administrator. Identify and resolve more than 95% of issues proactively with system monitoring tools. Contribute to the implementation of new system architecture to support business growth, including some travel for new site builds and special events. Work with software development team to identify the system and database requirements for application deployment and improvement.
Develop and maintain scripts and other programs for system monitoring, reporting, and maintenance. Deploy strategies for backups, recovery, migration of system changes, and longer-term system growth. Some maintenance of assets, licensing, and certificates involved. Ensure the system has sufficient capacity to meet forecasts, while maintaining consistent response time for issues that may arise. Effectively follow change management guidelines for all the changes made to test and production systems.
- Experience with configuring and maintaining Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Microsoft Hyper-V, and VMWare
- Must have Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL
- Experience with Point of Sale / Retail / Distribution Center operations
- PHP and HTML knowledge
- Experience configuring and maintaining Point-of-Sale and business hardware, with remote monitoring software provided
- Administration and support experience including backup and recovery, replication, clustering, performance tuning, automation, and monitoring
- Able to communicate effectively (listening and seeking clarification) with all levels of internal and external customers, while responding well to questions
- Meticulous, reliable, and able to work with data confidentially
- Able to set appropriate priorities, based on workload, using past experiences as a guideline
- Eligible to work in a firearms environment
