Position Overview: As a Edward King House Senior Center Program Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities tailored specifically for seniors. You will work closely with the senior center team, community partners, and volunteers to create a vibrant and engaging environment that promotes socialization, health, and overall well-being for older adults.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development:
- Design and develop a variety of programs and activities suitable for seniors, including fitness classes, educational workshops, recreational outings, cultural events, and social gatherings.
- Collaborate with community organizations, local businesses, and healthcare providers to offer diverse and meaningful programs that cater to the needs and interests of seniors.
- Program Implementation:
- Coordinate and oversee the implementation of programs, ensuring they are executed effectively and efficiently.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with program delivery and participant support.
- Participant Engagement:
- Engage with senior center members to understand their preferences, feedback, and suggestions for program improvement.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere where seniors feel valued, respected, and encouraged to participate in activities.
- Health and Wellness Promotion:
- Promote health and wellness initiatives among seniors, including nutrition education, preventive screenings, and access to community resources.
- Collaborate with health professionals to organize health fairs, wellness workshops, and informational sessions on topics relevant to aging adults.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant feedback, and program outcomes.
- Assist in prepping reports, budgets, and grant proposals as needed to secure funding and support for program initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in gerontology, social work, recreation management, or related field.
- Previous experience working with seniors or in a senior center environment preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of aging-related issues, community resources, and best practices in senior programming.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management software.
