Opening: Permanent, full-time position as a Mill Manager/Supervisor for a well established hardwood lumber company with multiple locations. AT LEAST 2 YEARS PRIOR SAWMILL SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Job Description: Direct and manage all sawmill operations, with overall responsibility for operational and financial performance. This facility processes logs into grade hardwood lumber on a single shift. The Mill Manager is responsible for supervising all aspects of sawmill operations.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Your primary responsibility is creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Strives to continuously improve overall performance through planning, taking action, adjusting and measuring results in all areas of sawmill operations.
- Coach and develop staff through open communications, respect, and training.
- Constantly monitor the quality of manufacturing, grading, tallying, packing and shipping.
- Scheduled maintenance tasks such as replacement of wear items, bearings, chains, cylinders, motors, drives, and so on as required.
- Work with millwrights to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Oversee projects and large repairs that may include fabrication, welding, cutting, pipe fitting, installing electrical conduit, and sawmill equipment installation.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
- Be familiar with OSHA regulations, and insured continued compliance through the facility.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years sawmill supervisory experience.
- Proficient in common mill maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of NHLA hardwood lumber grading rules is helpful.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems is helpful.
