Italian Village Restaurants is hiring a Bartender to join our Front of House team at The Village. You’ll be the face of our restaurant to our guests and responsible for ensuring they have an entertaining and personal experience. Bartenders are responsible for greeting guests, taking orders, making cocktails, pouring wine, serving food & beverage, keeping their bar maintained, and processing payment. Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet guests with open arms and a smile
- Assist our guests with making selections of food and beverage that will enhance their experience and match their preferences
- Manage and maintain multiple tables or bar guests at the same time through proper prioritization and communication with team members
- Set tables and bar for service, with special attention to cleanliness and proper placement
- Handle complaints, problems, or issues with a positive attitude and escalate to management when needed
- Issue bills and apply payments accurately
- Follow our steps of service fully to ensure proper service to Italian Village standards
- Ensure the timely delivery of food and beverages
- Practice and exercise upselling opportunities
- Complete sidework thoroughly and independently
- Follow company policies as communicated and updated
- Make guests have a memorable and magical dining experience
Qualifications (Required):
- Ability to get along with others - pleasant personality and neat, clean appearance
- At least 21 years of age and legally allowed to work in the United States
- Ability to follow verbal instructions well and accept constructive feedback on job performance
- Ability to communicate scheduling needs, equipment issues, and any other concerns with the Manager on Duty
- Must have Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) certification of willingness to obtain within 120 days of start, per Illinois State guidelines
- Willingness to work nights and weekends regularly
- Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours
- Ability to lift and carry up to ~30 pounds frequently while moving across dining room
- Ability to work standing on your feet for up to ~8 hours daily
- Ability to perform tasks in a timely and efficient manner with a focus on quality
- Ability to perform more than one task at a time and prioritize
- Ability to move and work fast, but also be thoughtful and gentle as to not break, drop, or spill
- Ability to go up and down up to 3 flights of stairs as needed to perform tasks
- Ability to reach up to 6 feet overhead (can use crate) or bend over and stoop to the ground while cleaning
- Ability to work in spaces with slick, often wet floors in a careful manner
- Ability to work in a confined, crowded, fast-moving space with high noise and light levels
