ASC and High Cost Drug Coder
***POTENTIAL FOR HYBRID REMOTE....Monday thru Friday, No Weekends, Paid Holidays***
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This position requires the individual to have knowledge and skills in the use of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding to prepare ASC surgery and high cost drug coding and post charges.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Efficient and Strong Use of Computer and Typing skills.
2. Advanced knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 coding, Certification required.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. The ability and desire to work cooperatively with coworkers to achieve departmental and corporate goals.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Responsible for accurate coding, review, and posting of ASC surgery charges.
2. Assist in the responsibility for accurate coding, review, and posting of High Cost Drug claims before submission.
3. Retain coding credentials as required by certifying organization.
4. Responsible for reconciliation of pathology and encounter documentation to ensure appropriate coding and posting.
5. Respond to insurance companies regarding coding issues and billing questions.
6. Answer incoming billing line when necessary and respond to patient questions regarding account status and balance.
7. Process and post credit card payments.
8. Analyze and process credit balances as necessary.
9. Assist with insurance follow up as assigned by supervisor.
10. Appeal denials by various insurance carriers as necessary.
11. Special projects as they arise regarding coding.
12. Other duties as assigned by Physician, Administrator, or Supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Completion of Certified Coding Program.
2. AAPC, AHIMA or Certification from an accredited school.
3. Minimum of 1 year coding experience in a hospital or clinic setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Prolonged periods of sitting with occasional periods of balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, and stooping.
2. Ability to independently lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
