Chicago Furniture Bank (CFB) is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to provide dignity, stability and comfort to Chicagoans that face poverty by allowing clients to handpick an entire home's worth of furnishings for free. Since opening in July of 2018, the CFB has furnished more than 9,000 homes for 19,000 clients, distributing 5,000 tons of furniture that otherwise would have ended in landfills. We currently furnish 15 homes per day, run 15 trucks and have 63 full-time employees.

Full-time: 40 hours plus significant OT options (if wanted), Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Same hours all year long
Pay: $21 - $22 Per Hour + $100 - $300 in tips (per week)
Summary:
The Chicago Furniture Bank (CFB) is a 501c3 nonprofit that furnishes 15 homes per day for free generally for families leaving homelessness. This driver position is responsible for all aspects of picking up and delivering furniture including loading, unloading, delivery and the driving of a box truck. You will also be the truck lead with mover assistant in the passenger seat.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lift, carry, and load furniture weighing up to 100 pounds, onto box trucks for transport to and from pickups and deliveries, including up and down stairs.
- Deliver furniture inside client homes including but not limited to bed frames, mattresses, box springs, dressers, tables, chairs, sofas and lamps.
- Respond to inquiries and requests from donors, clients, customers and community partners in a knowledgeable and professional manner. Provide problem-solving solutions when necessary.
- Collect furniture from residential or commercial facilities and homes.
- Diligently follows established pick up policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to secure furniture and pack a truck.
- Re-stock, clean and organize warehouses, docking areas and trucks as needed to maintain efficiency and safe working environments.
- Work independently or in a team environment. Direct movers and volunteers to complete assignments safely and efficiently, as needed.
- Communicate timing with pickups and deliveries for routes.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications: Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. (Class C permit required)
- Physical ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds on a regular basis and operate moving equipment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proactive thinking and strong communication skills are required.
