An Audio/Visual Technician is responsible for ensuring proper and timely installation of AV and/or network systems and devices for commercial and residential clients. An Audio/Visual Technician often performs several tasks within a single service call and handles all aspects of the installation process.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Traveling to residential homes and businesses for service calls.
- Consulting with clients to locate wiring and outlets for audio visual, home theater, and networking hardware and hardwire installations.
- Determining if additional products or materials are needed in relation to the job scope.
- Maintaining company provided tools and equipment to ensure optimal operating conditions.
- Proficient in using basic hand and power tools
- Documenting all task performed at each service appointment.
- Creating client invoices and collecting payments for invoices.
- Providing written and verbal instructions to clients on how to operate products, product systems, remote controls, applications, and other equipment.
- Testing functionality and performance following system and hardwire installations.
- Install, terminate, and troubleshoot various low-voltage systems and their devices and components.
- Responsible for signing out and securing inventory and non-inventory consumables per project.
- Rig/mount of equipment and displays.
- Fabricate racks, stands, cabinets, and build-outs in-house or onsite at client location.
- Ability to comfortably work at heights on lifts, ladders, and/or scaffolding.
- Ability to comfortably work in confined spaces in attics, crawl spaces, and/or small rooms.
- Ability to comfortably work in a construction environment (wearing PPE, dusty/unclean workspace, lack of climate control).
- Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds).
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug test.
- A teachable disposition and a willing attitude towards continuing education.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Education, Certification and/or Experience
Minimum high school diploma or GED and 1+ years’ experience with A/V installation including equipment fabrication, site preparation, termination and calibration of audio video equipment, and implementation of control systems in commercial and residential environments with minimum of 1 years’ experience as a lead technician, overseeing technical projects and/or crews, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Experience leading and supporting AV projects preferred. Applicants should be prepared to discuss examples of completed projects and provide references.
