Responsibilities
- Builds relationships with Senior Leadership, Management Teams, Supervisors, and field to promote and maintain a safe workplace.
- Research new regulations and developments in the field of Health and Safety and recommends changes in the company's program as needed.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Lead and communicate expectations of the safety program. Ensure all work documents are up to date in relation to company programs (AHA's, LOTO, Fall Protection).
- Schedules and performs job site visits and safety audits. Controls hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee practices through these site visits.
- Reviews documentation to ensure all required onsite records and reports are complete, accurate, and submitted per established procedures.
- Reinforces safety awareness in a manner that promotes cooperation and improved morale. Creates a working atmosphere that promotes openness and a high level of enthusiasm and morale in the field.
- Coordinates with insurance carrier's safety engineers.
- Accompanies all safety, health, and insurance inspectors on walk-through inspections.
- Investigate accidents, prepare and maintain required reports. Identify countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Manages Driver's Alert program.
- Provides safety orientation to crews at job sites.
- Manage all worker’s comp claims. Coordinate with HR to maintain clearinghouse records and all other drug screening processes.
- Work with HR to maintain EE DOT Files
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or related degree.
- 7-10 years of experience in the administration of safety and risk management programs or occupational safety and health programs supporting similar key responsibilities.
- 7-10 years of experience in the construction industry.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with construction safety work rules.
- Understanding of state Workers Compensation laws and reporting requirements.
- OSHA 300 credentials (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Certified First Aid/CPR trainer preferred.
- Significant knowledge in Loss Control and Claims Management acquired through documented hands-on experience.
- Intermediate PC skills with experience in Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook are required.

- Ability to self-manage priorities and deliverables. Flexible in responding to changing demands, goals, timelines, and priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly verbally and in writing. Capable of interacting in a positive and professional manner while coaching employees to ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met.
- Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Ability to travel when necessary. Approximately 50%-75% of the time.
