Under the direction of the Director of Child Nutrition, assist in planning, supervising and implementing nutrition-related department activities, including menu planning, nutritional analysis of menus, nutrition education and staff development/training and to do related work, as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists in menu planning and evaluates menus for nutrient content on current meal pattern Assists in design and implementation of computerized menu production system and recipe costing Schedules and chairs student nutrition committee meetings at each site level Assists is development of grants related to the nutrition education program Plans, coordinates and implements or facilitates classroom instruction on nutrition education Plans, coordinates and disseminates nutrition information to the student, staff, parents and community Plans, coordinates and implements a comprehensive training program for staff covering all areas of food preparation, sanitation, safety and nutrition Conduct new hire orientation Visit sites to observe and analyze work methods of staff to improve efficiency and production Assist Director in evaluation of staff Meets with principals, school staff and parent groups to coordinate events and activities, enhance communication, provide information on services available and develop program support Assist in development and presentation of nutrition and wellness classes for all district staff Keeps various reports and records to document activities conducted in a timely fashion Performs other duties, as assigned To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The examination process for this recruitment may be comprised of one or any combination of the following: screening of the applicant's training, background, and experience; scored evaluation of responses on a supplemental application; written examination(s); qualifications appraisal oral examination; performance examination; or technical oral examination, scored on a job-related basis. Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the examination process. Eligibility lists established from this recruitment will be used for full-time, part-time and limited term positions.New employees to the district are placed on step E of the salary schedule. The maximum salary is reached after 5 years of employment.Recruitments that list Promotional and Open Competitive opportunities may result in one of the following: 1) a dual-certified eligibility list in which internal employees of the San Lorenzo Unified School District are awarded seniority points to their final passing score before placement on the eligibility list, or 2) two separate eligibility lists consisting of candidates on a promotional only list and an open list. In the latter case, candidates on the promotional list are referred to the hiring authority before candidates on the open. However, when less than three ranks exist on the promotional list, the open list will be utilized to complete a total of three ranks.
