JOB GOAL
The Print Shop Supervisor is a vital position within our Public Relations Department, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Public Relations. This role is instrumental in organizing, directing, and participating in the day-to-day operations and activities of our print shop, serving the diverse printing and reproduction needs of the District's school sites and departments. The ideal candidate will exhibit a profound understanding of supervisory principles, inventory systems, and customer service excellence, ensuring project specifications and timelines are met effectively and efficiently.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates must possess at least a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.), along with three years of relevant experience in warehouse, driver, or courier roles. This includes one year of lead experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Proven ability in monitoring and evaluating employees, prioritizing, and assigning work.
- Proficiency with computers and applicable software applications.
- Capability in operating trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, sweepers, and other related equipment safely and efficiently.
- Skills in interpreting information on packing lists and recognizing shipment problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for interfacing with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
- Independent work organization with minimal oversight is essential.
- Ability to calculate project costs and estimate resource requirements.
- Experience in providing adept technical consultation for complex printing projects.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Print Shop Management: Efficiently organize and oversee the print shop operations by ensuring compliance with established standards, practices, and procedures.
- Project Coordination: Skillfully coordinate all printing projects, orders, and other requests, managing customer service functions and communications.
- Staff Training and Evaluation: Conduct training and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel, promoting a high-performing and cooperative team environment.
- Order Scheduling: Receive, schedule, and prioritize printing requests, verifying projects are completed according to precise specifications.
- Printing Operation Supervision: Hands-on supervision of the operations of digital copiers, offset presses, and various related peripherals and finishing equipment.
- Materials Quality Assurance: Proofread work, ready equipment for extended production runs, and monitor equipment to ensure the highest quality.
- Reproduction Tasks: Oversee and participate in cutting, binding, and other finishing tasks of reproduced materials as necessary.
- Customer Interaction: Proactively discuss printing needs with staff, manage billing processes, and follow up on invoices efficiently.
- Digital Libraries Maintenance: Establish and maintain a comprehensive library of computer files for digital printing purposes.
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of printing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and coordinating repairs when necessary.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of inventory levels, order materials, and maintain supply budgets diligently.
