Job Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for developing, planning and managing all financial aspects of enabling the organization to achieve its operational and strategic goals. The Director of Finance will report directly to the Executive Director and will manage the Controller.

Responsibilities
- Provide financial support to operations to maximize revenue generation, cost containment, and cash flow while ensuring strong internal controls
- Manage end-to-end finance function ensuring accurate financial statements and reporting, as well as accounts receivable management.
- Provide monthly variance reports and operational analytics and present these findings on a regular basis to the Board of Directors, management, residents, and various committees
- Lead in the development, planning, and analysis of budgets and forecasts
- Oversee and direct the organization's capital planning and spending, working with outside engineer on reserve study updates
- Direct internal accounting functions
- Manage General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Receivables, Payroll, and Cost Accounting
- Communicate with appropriate committees and committee chairs
- Implement policies and accounting practices ensuring they are in accordance with accounting principles
- Process biannual HUD renewals
- Manage the association insurance policies; General Liability, Building, Director and Officer Insurance, Auto Insurance, Excess Liability, Commercial Umbrella, Commercial Property, Commercial Crime, Employment Practices, Healthcare, Cyber Security, the Umbrella Policy, etc. (not to include Workmen's Compensation and Employee Benefits)
- Manage Radburn Law, H.O.A., and applicable Federal and State condominium law changes
- Review department budgets monthly with department directors; to include payroll, overtime, and supplies/inventory
- Review legal contracts and negotiate vendor terms and agreements and renewals
- Review all invoices prior to payment
- File necessary 1096 and 1099s
- Serve as the Trustee for the 401K Retirement Plan
- Serve as a member of the Investment Advisory Committee
- Review of Unit sales closings, documents, and commissions
- Preform forensic accounting, if needed
- Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep the Executive Director abreast of the organization’s financial status
- Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting
- Maintain the contracts management and financial management/reporting system
- Ensure that the required systems, policies and procedures are in place to support effective, efficient and compliant finance operations. Assist with the development and execution of strategic financial initiatives
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Professional financial certification such as CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in a finance and administration leadership role
- Experience in working at an independent senior living community is preferred
- Experience in working at a not for profit organization is strongly preferred

- A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to work onsite 3-4 days per week
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
