We are seeking a Patient Accounts Representative to be responsible for performing data entry and account analysis. The ideal candidate will have superior organizational skills and a passion for attention to detail and provide great customer service to all patients. A minimum of one year of customer service and clerical experience is required and the right candidate will enjoy working at a growing healthcare organization.
Schedules available:
- Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm
- Wednesday-Sunday 8:00am-4:30pm
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Interviews patients or family members in person or by telephone within HIPAA guidelines and determines eligibility based on guidelines supplied by the client site and uncompensated trust fund regulations.
- Maintain complete records of all patients applying for low income or financial assistance to include application, proof of income, acceptance/denial letter, and any/other applicable documentation.
- Ensure to follow up company’s, departmental and hospital policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Maintain daily contact with various hospital departments and other outside entities on self pay referrals.
- Assist patients in completing applications for state/county or government programs.
- Maintains statistical and other data related to financial determinations.
- Follows up with patients or family member after discharge to start the completion application in a timely manner.
- Submits completed applications in a timely manner for approval.
- Create detailed notes in the host or hospital system to reflect all actions performed on a patient’s account (for example: scheduling, payments, etc.).
- Initiate online PE’s (Presumptive Eligibility) for patient’s eligibility for Medicaid/NJ Family Care.
- Completes PA1C- form for patients eligible for Medicaid/NJ Family Care programs.
- Assist in special projects as requested by Management team.
- Ensures that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.
- Attends and actively participates in department meetings, trainings, and cross-training programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management team.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology and records (preferred)
- Ability to perform account analysis and work with DRG and ICD coding
- Excellent clerical and organizational skills
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish for effective customer service
