Our next Human Resources Business Partner will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of all Human Resources tasks related to the employee lifecycle; including but not limited to employee relations, performance management, employee training and development, employee engagement, and compliance.
You will be challenged to work both strategically and tactically to foster relationships across the Human Resources function and broader company to deliver value-added service to management and employees.
One minute you will be partnering with a Manager on an employee relations investigation.
The next minute diving into analyzing turnover trends.
And the next minute working with leadership to strategize improved employee retention initiatives.
Regardless of the task, it’s critical you have strong situational awareness and EQ as you’ll work with many diverse teams and stakeholders across the organization.
Where you'll be planted:
This is a hybrid position that requires occasional travel to our dispensary network in Michigan and any future markets within the Midwest territory.
To be blunt, this person will:
- Partner with retail, commercial operations, and regional leadership to support organizational initiatives for leadership development, performance management, compensation, employee training and development, reward and recognition systems, career pathing, compliance, and employee relations.
- Partner with leadership team to help support employee engagement and retention through various efforts.
- Act as liaison with Payroll and HRIS team
- Complete in-person field-based employee listening sessions to gauge location environment. Make recommendations to management based on feedback received.
- Help develop, implement, and support HR programs and processes to support overall effectiveness of the TerrAscend business.
- Analyze trends in turnover, hiring, promotion, separation, grievances, etc. to recommend preventative actions needed to adjust unfavorable trends.
- Manage work/performance issues while ensuring legal compliance across employee relations issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, leveraging employee abilities and managing risk. Effectively investigates issues, makes recommendations, and takes appropriate action.
- Participate in local talent planning which includes implementation of function-wide training and development plans and talent management support including support of leadership assessment process. Partners with district and center management to identify and address talent development needs.
- Partner and liaise with Talent Acquisition function to ensure workforce planning, recruiting and hiring strategies are met.
- Help to provide management training to new and existing managers across the network. May create and facilitate HR training for new and existing managers.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends in turnover, hiring, promotions, separations and grievances to determine support or action needed to adjust unfavorable trends; provide reporting and analysis on turnover trends
- Help to support managers through employee leave of absence processes by serving as a liaison between the employee, leave of absence team, and management. Helps to answer employee and manager questions related to leave of absence, FMLA, short-term disability, and personal leave of absence.
- Leave of Absence oversight and management of the Reasonable Accommodation process.
- Other HR and business projects as assigned.

- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
- SHRM, pHR, or other Human Resources certification highly preferred
- 5-7+ years of Human Resources generalist experience required
- Experience working with multiple field teams across different locations
- Must be on-site at facility on regular basis
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Able to effectively communicate at all levels of the business
- Prior Human Resources professional experience working with leaders in a large / matrix organization is a plus
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction
