Purpose: The bartender/server’s role is to serve our Members in accordance with The Thermal Club standards of food and beverage quality in a detailed, professional, and pleasant manner. A bartender/server should display hospitality and professionalism to our Members and exhibit teamwork with management and co-workers. A bartender/server should comply with the food & beverage department’s standard operating procedures and The Thermal Club mission statement and credo.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining all standard operating procedures.
- Responsible for flow management concentrating on busy areas first.
- Responsible for following all club rules and regulations.
- Responsible for inventory control through conscientious use and careful monitoring of all food and beverage products.
- Communicate Member’s requests and concerns to the manager.
- Maintain good working relationship with teammates.
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Maintain professional relationship with Members. Directly responsible for member/guest satisfaction.
- Work all special events that require food and beverage service.
- Responsible for detailed opening and closing duties.
- Reports to manager to receive instructions about menu and to obtain checks for writing orders; familiarizes self with menu, pay particular attention to "specials".
- Receives guest and takes orders; seats guests by pulling chairs away from table; distributes menus and fills glasses with ice water while guests decide upon an order; writes orders, makes suggestions about various dishes and wines.
- Efficiently and accurate communicate food order to kitchen via Point of Sale system.
- Assemble dishes on trays. Procure appropriate condiments from serving stations.
- Serves the meal, using tray service, places tray on a stand near the table being served; places dishes by course in front of each person, serving from the right of the guest; may replenish refreshments, rolls and butter if necessary.
- Removes soiled dishes, procures and serves desserts.
- Set up banquet lines for lunches. This includes, drink station, main food line, and cleanup lines.
- Maintain the cleanliness of storage facilities and dining room.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
- Independent Judgement: It is often the Lead Server's job to handle complaints and resolve conflicts with guests and staff. The Lead Server must take initiative and be creative in solving problems, only involving the Manager when efforts are unsuccessful.
- Leadership Skills: Working as the Lead Server requires effective leadership of the serving staff, providing them with information, encouragement and assistance as needed.
- Social Skills: The Lead Server is always interacting with Members and staff and needs to be approachable, polite and helpful.
- Multitasking Skills: Lead Servers are always on their feet attending to many responsibilities, so they need to be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize appropriately.
- Thoroughly familiar with American and foreign dishes of all types, as well as alcoholic beverages.
- Food prep and wine knowledge preferred.
- 2-3 years of dining room experience.
- Bartending experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop.
- Push, pull or lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.50 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
