COMPENSATION: $58,000-$68,000 based on experience
ORGANIZATION BACKGROUND: Communities United (CU) is a growing intergenerational grassroots organization that works across communities on issues of education justice, increasing access to affordable and quality healthcare and housing, youth investment, and justice reinvestment. CU’s organizing approach actively engages and develops community and institutional members to advance social, racial, and economic justice. The organization was recently named one of five global awardees of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Racial Equity 2030 Challenge.
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Communities United is looking for an enthusiastic Business Manager that would report to the Co-Executive Directors and would provide staff support on the organization’s goals and mission through the overall management of day-to-day internal operations. This position will be responsible for providing administrative support, as well as developing and implementing effective and efficient policies and procedures.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND BACKGROUND:
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business Administration is required. Non-profit organization experience is preferred.
- Experience in developing and implementing business operation policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of Google Suite, Zoom or Webex, Box, and other relevant business administration software.
- Solid understanding of project management principles.
- Spanish verbal and writing skills are a plus.
- Must be able to perform typing duties on a computer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage daily fiscal and administrative operations for Communities United
- Develop and maintain oversight of annual budget
- Maintain knowledge of multiple funding sources including individual donors, government grants, and local and national foundations
- Collaborate with Executive Directors and program staff to prepare funder budgets, reports, and site visits as necessary
- Monitor progress towards key financial goals and adherence to established budgets, recommend adjustments to budgets and procurement strategies as needed
- Manage, track, and ensure all accounts payable and accounts receivable are paid and collected in a timely manner
- Prepare and maintain all audit files and documentation and respond to requests for information from auditors during annual audit process
- Manage employee on-boarding, benefits administration, and submission of bi-weekly payroll
- Attend required trainings and meetings
- Assist Co-Executive Directors in developing and implementing effective and efficient operational policies and procedures
