The role of Human Resources Generalist is to perform professional level human resources work and carry out responsibilities in one or more of the functional areas, such as staffing, employee relations, benefits, training, employment, and compliance. This role carries out administrative work involving human resource functions and maintains related records.
Essential Job Responsibilities
· Works collaboratively with HR Director to support the strategic direction for all aspects of HR including onboarding and termination, compliance, benefits administration, leave of absence management, performance and compensation management, employee relations, training & development, and payroll.
· Engages in proactive positive employee relations strategies and initiatives; drives activities to promote engagement with employees at all levels.
· Answers employee and manager questions and or concerns regarding Human Resource policies, procedures, and employee handbook interpretation.
· Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and directs back through chain of command or escalates to Human Resource Director as needed.
· Assists location managers and/or supervisors with employee inquiries, performance review process, coaching, counseling, and terminations.
· With guidance from HR Director, partners with supervisors to ensure accountability is enforced as it relates to attendance, company policies, and performance.
· Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices for employee files, bulletin boards, etc.
· Ensures HRIS is being maintained and used accordingly.
· Coordinates talent acquisition processes with hiring managers and assists with recruitment tasks as needed.
· Manages recruiting workflow in Applicant Tracking System including online assessments, employment offers, pre-employment tests, I-9 compliance, and all correspondence with candidates.
· Participates in new hire orientation and coordinates new hire training with the safety trainer.
· Completes termination processing and offboarding for separated employees.
· Assists with payroll processing as needed.
· Works with location managers to update, monitor, and maintain eligible wage adjustments/increases based on one-year evaluations.
· Maintains employee files and records.
· Audits Personnel Files.
· Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs and employee events.
· Reports, maintains, and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
· Maintains company policies, procedures, and standards with the guidance of the HR Director.
· Guides and collaborates with management and employees to improve and develop a positive, inclusive company culture that exemplifies company values.
· Assists HR Director in structuring and organizing training plans and programs for all departments.
· Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualification:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration from an accredited institution.
· Minimum of 2 years of HR Generalist experience.
· Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
· Experience with Indeed, LinkedIn, Zip Recruiter, etc.
Preferred Qualification:
· HR experience in traffic control or construction environment strongly desired.
· PHR/SPHR Certification.
· Experience with HR and payroll processing software – Paycor.
· Experience with recruiting software – Paycor Recruiting.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
· Ability to perform work on a computer for extended periods
· Ability to attend work and meetings with excellent attendance and punctuality
· Ability to bend and lift up to 25 lbs.
Some travel required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
