Lead Coordinator of Accessibility & Related Programs
Part-time (up to 25 hrs/wk) Coordinator of Accessibility & Related Programs for busy, non-profit, cross disability services agency. BA/BS in human services or related field and 2 years’ experience in disability-related services. Provides information and referral, outreach, training, and direct support to consumers related to assistive technology, accessibility, and other related topics. Conducts accessibility site surveys based on knowledge of ADA requirements and develops comprehensive reports for program partners. Willingness to learn Titles II and III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and obtain ICC Accessibility Inspector Certification preferred. Highly organized individual with commitment to consumer control and empowerment sought. Ability to work in a team environment. Strong communication, customer service and Microsoft Office skills required. Regional travel required. II. Qualifications
A. Education
Preferred: Advanced Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Rehabilitation, Psychology, Engineering, Technology, or related field
Acceptable: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Rehabilitation, Psychology, or related field
B. Experience
Preferred: Two years’ experience serving people with disabilities, experience with Assistive Technology, knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act, knowledge of ANSI and/or building codes
Acceptable: Less than two years’ experience serving people with disabilities with ability to gain experience with Assistive Technology and knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act, and accessibility standards
C. Personal
Highly Desirable: Personal life experience with disability, experience with assistive technology, and/or familiarity with the history of the Independent Living Movement.
Essential: Clearly demonstrated adherence to the philosophy, best practices and language usage that support consumer empowerment and self-determination. Articulate with strong written and verbal communication, and writing skills. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Relates to people in a way that promotes self-determination. Knowledge of CIL cores services and housing options for persons with disabilities. Computer literacy, especially using Microsoft Office.
III. Essential Job Functions
· Coordinate TechOwl grant-funded project related to assistive technology
· Help people with disabilities learn about different types of assistive technology
· Help people with disabilities borrow and/or receive different assistive technology
· Serve as in-house expert on assistive technology and devices
· Coordinate PA Assistive Technology Foundation (PATF) Funding Assistance Center activities; promote PATF funding opportunities
· Provide outreach about LVCIL and CARP programs, with a focus on promoting TechOWL and PATF.
· Conduct one-on-one and/or group trainings on assistive technology in a seven-county region
· Coordinate and conduct Americans with Disabilities Act site surveys
· Prepare site survey reports with recommendations for accessibility and inclusive improvements
· Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports to funders
· Communicate directly to funders on project activities
· Participate in ongoing training to build and enhance knowledge and skills related to assistive technology
· Provide accurate timely data tracking in various systems
· Attend related team meetings
· Work with and provide support to the PT Accessibility Support Coordinator to accomplish goals of the CARP program.
· Function as part of the LVCIL Team as well as the CARP Team and attend related meetings.
IV. Related Job Functions
A. LVCIL Team Support
1. Attend team meetings as required.
2. Assist in smooth agency operations; assist as needed with special events.
B. Reports
1. Maintain accurate, up-to-date daily time log in CIL Suite and supply same at conclusion of each pay period.
2. Assist with ongoing program evaluation and reporting.
C. Other
1. Responsible for other duties as specified by Waiver and Accessibility Related Program Manager or LVCIL’s Executive Director.
2. Accept responsibility as directed for other miscellaneous agency needs.
3. Offsite travel via independent, readily available means of transportation, with proof of valid driver’s license, insurance and registration provided at least annually.
IV. ACCOUNTABILITY
The Coordinator of Accessibility Programs is responsible to, and will be evaluated by, the Waiver and Accessibility Related Program Manager or in their absence, LVCIL’s Executive Director.
