Position Summary:
This position is responsible for preventive maintenance and repair of our rolling stock. This includes Ag tractors, tractor implements and equipment, our fleet vehicles and back up generators. This includes, but is not limited to lube oil and filter changes, troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems for repairs or replacement, vehicle and tractor electrical knowledge. Must have experience with changing out parts like starters, radiators, water pumps, alternators, brakes, oil seals, shocks, tire repair exhaust systems etc. Must have the aptitude to safely change out parts as identified. Must be knowledgeable in the safe operation of all equipment used at Carnation Farms as to repair and maintain our fleet. Preventive maintenance and repair on all equipment and rolling stock is an important position at Carnation Farms due to the high dollar cost of the equipment. Must have the ability to safely operate equipment and vehicles for repair and service. Individuals must have a high degree of work ethics taking responsibility with very little supervision and have the ability to work on an on-call basis for emergency response as needed.
Reports to: Facilities Director
Responsibilities:
· Maintenance and repair of Ag tractors and implements.
· Maintenance and repair of our fleet vehicles.
· Maintenance and repair of our backup power generators.
· General computer knowledge, records keeping knowledge.
· Air conditioning knowledge a plus.
· Electrical wiring knowledge on low voltage systems up to 24 volt.
· Ability to safely operate equipment and rolling stock for repair and or service.
· Proficient with inventory control, ordering parts and supplies, maintaining rolling stock and Ag equipment.
· Welding, mechanical and structural fabrication a plus.
· Miscellaneous facility maintenance and repair working within the facilities team.
· Work closely with other departments to ensure efficient functioning of Carnation Farms operations.
· Provide support in other departments as directed by Carnation Farms Management.
· Keep the shop area clean and safe.
Training and Experience:
· One to three years’ experience in vehicle preventive maintenance.
· One to three years’ experience in trouble shooting problems for repair.
· One to three years’ experience in repair, operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment. (Including agricultural machinery and automotive equipment).
· Organization skills.
· One to five years, fabrication experience a plus.
· Oral and written communication skills.
· Good computer skills a plus for ordering parts and inventory.
Education Requirements:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Key Competencies :
Should have knowledge of and/or experience in:
· Vehicle service, trouble shooting and repair.
· Knowledge of automotive mechanics including agricultural equipment such as tractors, dump trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, mini track hoes and crawlers, some automatic control systems.
· Individual must have a strong working knowledge of the use of safety procedures.
· Must be able to prioritize and assist other team members.
· Must keep a safe clean work area.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
· Knowledge of welding and fabrication or equivalent.
· Valid driver’s license.
· Current CPR/First Aid (training is available in house)
· Back ground check
Working Conditions: (percentages are approximations)
· 60% in on-site projects
· 40% in on-site meetings
Physical Demands:
· Able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
· Time standing and sitting based on job requirements.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
