General Description: (Job Summary) Assists in the provision of exceptional primary and comprehensive health care as a member of a team of health care professionals; provides direct patient care as required.
Education, Training and Experience (Qualifications): Certified Medical Assistant required; 2-5 years health care experience preferred. Current CPR and AED certified. Clinical and Nursing skills, infection control, medication administration, health promotion and maintenance. Knowledge of patient/health evaluation, examination and assessment, histories, nutrition, lifespan development, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, specimen collection; treatments, care, and procedures performed in clinic, data collection, documentation, EMR, patient education, etc.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking and standing with some sitting;
- medium work with moderate to heavy weights (20 to 50 lbs.) handled generally in optimal position.

- Stooping/crouching, reaching, fingering, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions; talking and hearing, close visual acuity
- It has been determined that this job title has occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens and is covered by RHC’s Exposure Control Plan. This plan is constructed to prevent the transmission of blood borne pathogens by limiting occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.
Position Responsibilities:
Assist physician and mid-level practitioners in patient care; assess patient needs and prepare patients for examinations; take vital signs, assist in minor surgery and in emergencies.
- Draw blood and prepare blood specimens for laboratory tests; perform laboratory procedures per availability at center and maintain laboratory stock items and supplies.
- Prepare and administer medications and give injections as ordered.
- Administer various treatments and tests, e.g. electrocardiogram as needed/ordered.
- Perform screening tests such as visual testing, audiometry, strep test, pulmonary functions, etc. Ensure optimal functioning of equipment.
- Maintain machinery, equipment and examination rooms in optimum condition; order and stock supplies; maintain quality control records for office equipment.
- Verify pertinent patient information and update along with the provider, record clinical data required for financial and statistical reports.
- Perform patient teaching on diets, medication use and other special care; provide counseling and instruction regarding common patient issues as required.
- Maintain supply of private and state vaccine inventory.
- Respond to state and federal audit inquiries in regards to children’s vaccines.
- Perform duties and serve as OSHA representative for the center.
- Maintain Continuing Education.
- Perform other duties within capabilities as assigned by supervisor or executive staff.
- Adhere to all personnel policies in the conduct of personal and employment matters.
