Property Accountant
We are a Real Estate management, investment, and development company. We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on individual to join our successful team. The Property Accountant will be a part of the accounting group, a fast-paced, friendly environment. The individual will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconciling monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements, including variance analysis for a portfolio of properties. Budgeting/forecasting for a portfolio of affordable housing multifamily properties.
· Year-end workpaper preparation for audits and tax returns.
· Update corporate budget on a quarterly basis and variance analysis as required.
· Assist with due diligence for acquisitions and refinancing.
· Proactive forward-looking cash management including cash projections.
· Analyze monthly accounts receivable arrears for collections.
· Close oversight of monthly changes in A/P purchase order approval
· Tracking and analysis of expenses and comparison per unit/building
· Ensure timely submission of cash withdrawal requests from reserves to operations.
· Demonstrated history of working closely with Operations/Property Mgmt. and improving performance through analysis and review of financial operations.
· Complete RE tax and water bill audits. Gather the necessary support for the audits.
· Ad hoc reporting and requests from Senior Management
Knowledge, skills, and experience requirements for successful candidates:
· Minimum of 8 years of solid general ledger accounting experience.
· Demonstrated history of working in Affordable Housing
· Construction Accounting experience is a plus.
· Yardi Voyager expertise
· Proficiency in Microsoft suites such as excel, word, power point.
· Strong communication & analytical skills to communicate financial performance to the Controller, CFO and Senior Management.
· Proactive forward-looking thinker
· Self-starter, detail-oriented individual with excellent time management and organization skills
· Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and juggle necessary deadlines.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, Masters is a plus.
