Must have inpatient ACUTE care coding experience
Responsibilities:
- Assign appropriate medical codes to patient records using ICD-10 coding systems, DRG's, etc
- Review and analyze medical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
- Abstract relevant information from medical records for coding purposes
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Coding Specialist for an ACUTE care hospital
- Proficient in medical coding, including knowledge of ICD-10 coding systems
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and diagnoses
- Familiarity with medical billing and collection processes
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of medical office systems and software
