The clinic's hours are currently 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8 am to 1 pm Tuesday and Thursday, and 9 am to 1 pm every other Saturday. No after-hours emergency calls or duties required. No overnight boarding. Therefore, no attending to boarding patients during the holidays or weekends. Typically, every other Saturday off. Clinic is closed on Sundays -*Work-life balance!! Hooray!!

Family Tree Animal Clinic (FTAC), is a state-of-the-art canine and feline-exclusive general practice. We operate in a paperless environment, offering services to our clients such as in-house diagnostics, surgery, dental procedures, digital whole body x-ray, digital dental x-ray and ultrasound – to name a few. We strive to strengthen the human-animal bond by consistently providing unmatched care to all pet companions and their families in the community in which we serve, while upholding the gold standard of veterinary medicine.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Reviewing patient medical records/notes to discern the nature of the visit and suggest any necessary tests or procedures, preparing forms, preparing/educating owners about medications/vaccines, filling and dispensing prescriptions as directed by veterinarian, electronically documenting history and examination findings.
- Communicate with clients regarding the medical/surgical status of their pet, how to care for their pets after discharge from the hospital, how to administer medications, etc.
- Provide accurate information to clients concerning services, fees, hospital policies and procedures, treatments, medications, etc. in accordance with hospital culture
- Processing payments
- Appointment scheduling and data entry
- Collaborating with Team Members to facilitate the efficient and effective running of the hospital
- Maintain upkeep of the clinic areas
Required Experience:
- Two (2+) years of recent experience (within the last 3 years) in a veterinary small animal practice environment as a Veterinary Receptionist with increasing responsibilities
- Basic veterinary medical knowledge (i.e. medical nomenclature, routine medications and vaccinations utilized, etc.)
- Ability to correctly and efficiently decipher medical records to determine vaccination status, prescribed medications, and past/current medical history, etc.
- Efficient computer data entry skills.
- Lift and carry animals or materials weighing 50 lbs. or more
- Handle dogs weighing up to 150 lbs.
- And let’s not forget…Must enjoy working with people and animals
Preferred Experience:
- Three (3+) years of recent Veterinary Receptionist experience
- Knowledge of Cornerstone Practice Management software
- Worked in a paperless medical record environment
- Knowledgeable on how to properly restrain a dog or cat safely
- Can efficiently assist with routine veterinary medical procedures (i.e. nail trim/dremel, anal gland expression, and administering vaccines/medication, etc).
- Some College
