Description
To identify trends, patterns, and opportunities to improve patient care and reduce preventable harm across the organization, including all inpatient and ambulatory areas, through the review of patient safety events. To investigate and analyze serious safety events and sentinel events in a timely manner using UAB Medicine s defined root cause analysis (RCA) process. To engage in professional communication with front line staff, medical staff, nursing departments, service line directors/managers, and executive leadership regarding serious safety events. To facilitate interprofessional root cause analyses and process improvement activities in accordance with hospital policy. To serve as a subject matter expert to UAB Medicine staff and committees with regard to quality improvement tools and methodologies used to aid UAB Medicine s compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
Pay Range: $73,945.00 - $120,165.00 / Yearly
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or healthcare related field and five (5) years of clinical nursing experience, one (1) year of which must be within the Patient Safety Department. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Master s degree strongly preferred. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Attendance of Quality Academy within two (2) years of employment required.
