Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a specialized focus on taxes and/or insurance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, and/or experience in managing insurance matters. This role will be based in our downtown Raleigh office and will report directly to the Director of Finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide support and guidance to other departments regarding tax and/or insurance matters, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
· Prepare and file multi-state sales tax (MA, MI, VA, NC, SC, FL, AR), and other applicable filings, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
· Conduct thorough research on tax laws and regulations to stay informed on changes that may affect the company's financial activities.
· Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize the company's tax liabilities.
· Acquire and keep current sales tax exemption forms including updating as needed.
· Advise on taxation concerns for new growth and expansion initiatives.
· Manage insurance policies, including but not limited to workers comp, auto, general liability, umbrella, and professional business.
· Review business contracts for insurance compliance.
· Analyze insurance premiums and claims data to identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend adjustments as needed.
· Handle claims that may arise over the course of doing business.
· Prepare financial reports and summaries related to tax and insurance activities for management review.
· Perform other work-related duties as required.
Desired Education: Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience
Desired Skills & Experience:
· Minimum 5 years’ relevant work experience, with a focus on taxes and insurance
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
· Strong communication and organization skills
· Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks
· Familiarity with state taxation entities and websites
