Qualifications: PhD in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry
Strong expertise in wide range of molecular biology techniques including NGS, PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, ddPCR mutagenesis, molecular cloning, construct design, sequence analysis, CRISPR-CAS9 gene editing.
Experience in development and optimization of in vitro diagnostic tools based on PCR and/or NGS technologies is required.
Experience in high-throughput protein engineering or other high-throughput genetic selection methods, protein expression in E. Coli and purification (Affinity chromatography, SDS-PAGE) is a plus
Organized, rigorous and autonomous. Deadlines and results focusing.
Enthusiasm and team spirit, good management skills.
Responsibilities:
· Developing, adapting, and implementing new laboratory protocols for DNA Polymerase and Reverse transcriptase characterizations (activity tests, PCR, RT-PCR, Gel electrophoresis)
· Developing and optimizing In vitro Diagnostics tests (PCR, ddPCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, NGS) with our proprietary polymerases.
· Working on the application of high-throughput protein engineering techniques including modern methods of directed evolution, to systems including industrial enzymes, enzymes for DNA biotechnology and peptide drugs. The methods include generation and screening of protein libraries using a variety of techniques. The methods for generation of protein libraries include the production of mutations at individual amino acid positions, production of random mutations and production of combinatorial libraries of mutations in predefined regions of the protein. The methods for screening and selection include survival-based growth assay selection, microplate-based fluorescence screening, fluorescence-activated cell sorting, cell surface display, real-time PCR and micro emulsion.
· Analyze and report results to higher management
· Identify bottlenecks and improve throughput.
· Supervise any needed outsourcing of experiments through contract research organizations (CROs), describing the needed experiments to the CROs, following the progress and analyzing the results.
· Analyze the scientific and patent literature pertaining to applications of interest to the group in order to assess the scope for proprietary improvements.
· Draft scientific papers and patent applications.
· Supervise equipment and reagents purchasing pertaining to the above experiments, making decisions regarding hardware that can be used to improve steps in the high-throughput engineering protocols.
· Assure good laboratories practices according to HSE rules of the company
