PLS or LSIT Land Surveyor
“PLS or LSIT” Job Description
PLS or LSIT duties are to include, but are not limited to the following description:
Overall Goal:
· Work closely with management to run the day to day business of GPA Inc’s Charlotte Office and to develop new business opportunities that will generate clients and increased profits while maintaining GPA’s positive image “Integrity Without Boundaries” and reputation. Assist with the positive branding of GPA Inc. through marketing, networking, and business development.
Assist management, office staff and field staff to develop methods of increased profitability through technology, efficient operations, training and leadership.
Daily Tasks:
· Streamline the setting up of new jobs (cad projects and field files), research, calculations and providing field crews with data, prints, etc… for getting started on new jobs with clear and concise direction as to the scope of work;
· Fielding client calls/emails and questions. This includes following up with all calls and emails no matter how trivial the client’s concern might be. Project manager must be able to quickly and confidently assess each issue and offer solutions that protect GPA’s clients as well as GPA’s reputation;
· Project Manager must be able to multi-task and keep projects, billing, etc… on schedule;
· Provide surveying expertise to special surveying problems and be able to problem solve and provide confident solutions related to surveying issues. Project manager must be able to make decisions based on the evidence gathered.
· Meet with developers, planning and design engineers, municipal planning and zoning departments to determine pertinent information required for new and existing projects;
· Maintain records and research, prepare reports and compose correspondence relative to each survey project;
· Be or become familiar will all local municipalities and the processes for submitting surveying documents (plats, as-built drawing, etc…);
· Foster and develop a rapport with new and existing clients and other professionals and become the “surveyor of choice” when clients need land surveying services. GPA takes pride in the fact that we have over many years developed great relationships with many engineers, developers, attorneys and other professionals;
· Direct and assist PLS’s, draftsman, field personnel in the completion of their daily task in Charlotte and other offices if needed. Project manager will need to be able to delegate work to subordinates in a manner that is not demeaning and will offer guidance and training.
· Project and client management, cad drafting, construction calculations etc...; Prepare data for record mapping, topographic mapping, as-builts, etc...;
· Ensure quality standards are being maintained for all office and field work and that all procedures in place by GPA are being followed;
· Assist with office administration as needed;
· Create a positive environment that promotes office and field productivity and profitability.

Experience:
License/Certification:
- North Carolina LSIT (Required) – or ability to obtain within 6 month.
- North Carolina PLS (Required) – or ability to obtain within 6 month.
