The City of Eugene Airport is to add an energetic and knowledgeable member to their Facilities Maintenance Team. This person will perform a variety of experienced building maintenance and airport operations duties; function as on-going lead-worker responsible for scheduling, coaching, and/or performing advanced skilled craft maintenance and airport operations activities as required; provide a variety of administrative support duties to assist the Airport Terminal Manager

Salary Range: $30.58 - $38.14 / hourly; $63,606.40 - $79,331.20 / annually

Work Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday or Wednesday - Saturday, 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Based on business need must be able to work any shift. When working Graveyard or Swing shift, employees will receive a shift differential pay of $0.80/hour.

- Plans, directs, and schedules airport maintenance activities to meet applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, industrial standards, and project specifications.

Demonstrate leadership across a diverse team.

Develop Programs for future airport use including Maintenance and Asset management.

Acts as lead worker to Airport Terminal staff; schedules work activities and monitors progress; provides assistance to Airport Terminal Supervisor.

Performs skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work including maintenance and repair of interior finishes, roof maintenance, building exterior maintenance, HVAC system maintenance, and minor plumbing repair; operates a variety of complex equipment and tools, including heavy and specialized equipment as required.

Oversees and performs specialized airport maintenance projects such as runway, taxiway, and grounds inspections for safety and security; operates and enforces airport security and access system requirements; troubleshoots problems and malfunctions.

Makes mechanical repairs to building systems, airport lighting, electrical gates, and emergency generators; establishes preventive maintenance programs for assigned area.

Responds to emergency situations such as emergency aircraft alerts or personal injuries; may act as incident command, until relieved.

Evaluates complex work projects and prioritizes activities; develops and writes work orders; decides on and estimates time, materials, and required processes; prioritizes, plans, and develops assignments for personnel and equipment; ensures proper tools, equipment, and supplies are available.

Provides coaching, training, and instruction in construction and maintenance techniques, use and care of equipment and tools, and safety procedures; reviews and ensures the work of crew members are up to industrial standards; assesses skill development; provides input for performance reviews; participates in selection process; may develop training exercises for tasks and equipment operations.

Coordinates activities with other Divisions, departments, and agencies.

Interprets drawings, diagrams, specifications, and blueprints; provides technical assistance to staff as required; sets and interprets standards and issues; develops recommendations and options; resolves problems; recommends and develops work procedures and standards.

Inspects work in progress and upon completion to assure compliance with applicable safety standards and City procedures and standards; ensures that proper traffic control devices and procedures are used for safe working conditions and public safety at job site.

Maintains records; prepares spreadsheets and reports on project activities, equipment maintenance, and cost factors; ensures all appropriate materials, equipment, and supplies are available; tracks preventive maintenance.

Reviews documentation for proper project and incident record keeping and compliance with State and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Coordinates work activities with internal and external customers, contractors, and vendors; may develop contract specifications for bids; oversees work performed by contractors.

Develops specifications; researches new products and equipment; makes recommendations for equipment acquisitions.

Assists with planning and development of budgets; develops estimates and cost-outs for projects; tracks and monitors expenditures.

Assists with the development of policies and standards for assigned airport maintenance programs; provides input to long-range planning objectives; researches and designs new processes; develops and implements work procedures and standards related to the assigned areas; researches and recommends methods, materials, tools, and equipment to improve operations; tests new equipment, materials, and processes; recommends modifications.

Assists the public; provides information regarding airport rules and regulations.

Remains current on principles, practices, and new developments in the assigned area.

Actively supports and respects diversity in the workplace.

May perform work in areas with exposure to dust, chemicals, varying and extreme weather conditions, and variety of hazards; may lift heavy objects and equipment.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience
Five years of relevant, advanced skilled construction or facilities maintenance experience. One year of lead worker experience is desirable.
License or Certificate
A valid Oregon driver's license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
Must be able to be Operations certified within by probation end date.
Class A Commercial Driver's License and Limited Maintenance Electrician License is desired.
