Richmond Friends School is hiring! Be a part of the team!
Richmond Friends School seeks a dynamic, innovative educator to oversee a 7th-8th grade classroom for the 2024-2025 academic year. The ideal applicant will embrace the opportunity to create his/her own curriculum with Indiana standards as the minimum expectation, utilize project-based learning, and integrate material across subject areas. Ability to teach either math (up to Algebra 1 level) and science OR language arts and social studies is desired. This position is an opportunity to engage with a small group of eager learners in a school that values the individual gifts of its students.
An independent Pre K-8th grade school affiliated with the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Richmond Friends School (RFS) is known for its academic excellence and its commitments to experiential, collaborative learning; peace and social justice; and environmental sustainability. RFS endeavors to educate the whole child, with attention to the academic, social, and physical development of every student.
Teachers work ten months of the year, 8:00 a.m. -3:45 p.m. M-F, with an hour off for lunch. The school provides a salary and a benefit stipend. Ongoing professional development is both expected and supported by the school. Teachers are both expected and encouraged to share in decision-making about the school in a mutually supportive atmosphere with faculty, staff, parents, and board members. The school offers classes of about 15 students, an expectation of learning opportunities outside the classroom, and a community of families that is exceptionally committed to and involved in the flourishing of the school. Among the school’s distinctions are its small size, spirit of community, and collaboration.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree and successful experience developing lesson plans and working with middle school children in a classroom setting.
