We are seeking a Machine Sanitation Team Lead is responsible for demonstrating strong leadership skills, detailed knowledge of the food industry, and a good eye for detail. A top-notch sanitation team lead ensures the manufacturing facility is always up to code and running efficiently. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Job Responsibilities
- Adhere to Employee Health and Safety company rules and requirements
- Knowledgeable with Food Safety and Good Manufacturing guidelines and requirements
- Knowledgeable with cleaning and sanitizing food contact and non-food contact surfaces according to FDA guidelines
- Assist and oversee Custodial/Sanitation personnel to perform cleaning and sanitizing efficiently, safely and effectively
- Assist QA Manager with writing and updating Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Clean Out Logs
- Assist with SSOP training
- Verify cleaning and perform and document pre-operational checks ahead of QA inspection
- Assist with SSOP validations
- Monitor, ensure and improve Master Sanitation Schedule Program
- Communicate with operations for product changeovers and sanitation events
- Serve as secondary contact for external vendors related to sanitation, including pest control, chemicals and custodial services
- Responsible for stocking soap, sanitizer, gloves and paper towels for production hand sinks and sanitizer stations
- Help monitor pest control reports and assist the QA Manager with corrective actions.
- Responsible for compliance and integrity inspections of the Color Code Program.
- Ensure chemicals are labeled, controlled and concentrations are logged.
- Perform weekly chemical inventories
- Job requires working in a production and warehouse environment, bending, stooping, operating cleaning machinery, handling chemicals, following GMPs, and occasionally lifting up to 60 pounds
- Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent or related industry knowledge
- Food Manufacturing Quality experience a plus
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required
- Oracle Software experience preferred
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
- A history of working safely and a reputation for promoting and getting involved in safety improvement efforts, ability to follow safety policies and procedures is required
- Must have effective problem-solving abilities
Environment
- Ambient conditions – Work area is, typically, a non-air-conditioned production environment. Hot or cold Temperatures, all seasonal elements, both indoors and outdoors.
- Atmosphere: Dust (Peanut - known allergen), cotton, canola seed, and odor
- Must be able to work around noise levels that may reach or exceed 85 decibels and require use of hearing protection for most of the work shift
- Protective clothing required: Uniforms, hardhats, earplugs, safety glasses, hair restraints, steel-toed shoes, gloves and safety harness may be required based on task performed; employees are required to wear all required PPE (i.e. hard-hats, safety glasses, earplugs, uniforms, and steel-toed boots) in addition to job specific PPE requirements. *Employees in roles that require respirators will need to be clean shaven.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move about or to a work site by ascending/descending stairs, bending, kneeling and prolonged periods of standing and sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling or squatting frequently in and out of machines
- Ability to operate equipment or machinery that may be located at different heights; may require work on ladders, scaffolding or other work at heights or in confined spaces
- Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis, up to 55 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 50 pounds overhead
- Requires ability and willingness to wear respirators
