Summary/Objective
The Maintenance Technician II performs routine and preventative maintenance and simple repairs for designated equipment and facilities. Performs a variety of troubleshooting tasks and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor to verify work tasks and duties.
Essential Functions
- Programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced PLCs
- Reading assembly drawings, schematics, and equipment layouts.
- Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronic circuits.
- Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing control devices.
- Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing hydraulic equipment, circuits and components.
- Maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and replacing pneumatic systems.
- Must be able to look up parts from equipment drawings, schematics and parts lists. Must be able to fill out parts requisitions in order to purchase.
- Must be able to understand our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and be able to conform to our work order procedures.
- Understanding and using data to improve productivity.
- Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Assisting crew members and work in team environment.
- Helping meet or exceed production waste and quality goals.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- 3 years of manufacturing experience in a related field.
- Must be able to efficiently and effectively use a computer, CMMS and related software related to record-keeping and machine troubleshooting/maintenance.
- Must be capable of recognizing and understanding numbers and values and enter this information into an on-line database accurately.
- Strong mathematical ability is essential.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods on hard surfaces.
- Ability of strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to climb 60 feet.
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair low voltage (12 v DC) – high voltage (480 v AC 3 Phase) electrical systems.
- Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
- Ability to work long hours and weekends.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent or 2 years prior experience.
- General knowledge of OSHA and HAZMAT regulations.
- Basic concepts of algebra and geometry to calculate proportions, percentages, area, volume, etc.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, industrial machines, digital cameras, phones, scanners, tools, and controls in a safe manner.
- Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work and concentrate in a noisy environment.
- Requires working with a wide variety of other job groups and involves working around traffic, heights, electricity, hydraulics, and heavy equipment including moving parts.
- Must have manual dexterity.
