The Mill Machinist II is responsible for setting up and machining of parts to specification from engineering drawings on conventional and CNC machines including milling machines and other general machine shop equipment. The Machinist II may have minimal experience programming CNC machine tools and performing basic editing of programs.
Essential functions, duties, and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring instruments and documents results.
- Performs own inspections and can use a wide variety of inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators as well as performing surface plate inspections.
- Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Assist with process development in support of the machine shop
- Meets production and quality goals.
- May perform secondary operations such as deburring.
- Ensures all specifications and procedures are followed efficiently while maintaining a high quality level.
