Spectrix Analytical Services, LLC is searching for a candidate for a full-time permanent entry-level technician position to support a Compound Logistics team at one of our large pharmaceutical clients in La Jolla, CA. This position may present the opportunity to cross-train and support other areas, including but not limited to Automation and Instrument support.
Job Responsibilities
- Registration, weighing, storing, and inventory maintenance of small molecule compounds.
- Operation of automated laboratory equipment (ex. liquid handling instrumentation) to create compound testing plates.
- Execute work across liquid handlers, laboratory automation, plate readers, and mass spectrophotometers.
- Troubleshooting and recovery of basic instrumentation errors.
- Running routine QC operation and data analysis
- Process sample requests for distribution and maintain proper documentation.
- Label and track compounds for storage and shipment label compounds
- Logistical support for project teams including documentation management, shipping, and receiving of disposables and compounds, and communication with global partners.
- Shipping of requested compounds throughout R&D departments
- Adheres to corporate standards for laboratory safety, including proper use of personal protective equipment and proper operation of safety enclosures and other equipment.
- Conduct work according to standard SOPs and consistently deliver high quality data within timelines to support drug discovery R&D.
- Maintain excellent experimental records that accurately describe individual steps in laboratory electronic notebook in compliance with company policies and standards.
- Assist with laboratory hardware and software fault diagnosis and perform hands-on troubleshooting, repairs and calibrations for laboratory automation, computer systems, and stand-alone instruments.
- Assist with transition of manual workflows onto automated assay systems and optimize existing automated processes and platforms to improve efficiency, throughput, robustness and quality.
- With time, potential to cross-train in day-to-day operational activities to support Automation and other Instrument support.
Qualifications
- Minimum associate degree, are ideal for this position.
- Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to work at the lab bench for extended periods of time are required.
- The individual should be well organized and detail oriented, with the ability to work under tight deadlines that may be altered by rapidly changing priorities.
- The individual should have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Experience with lab automation is preferred but not required.
- Learning agility with proven critical thinking skills

Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
