ESTIMATED PAY RANGE
The preferred compensation structure is hourly.
Hourly: $22 - $26
Estimated Annual Pay: $45,500 to $54,000
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Scenic Painter is responsible for painting and finishing scenic elements such as furniture pieces, set pieces, backdrops, props, and other visual elements for various events.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
Prepare surfaces for painting, including priming, sanding, and sealing as necessary.
Mix and match paint colors to achieve desired hues and tones, utilizing various painting techniques such as spraying, brushwork, and texturing.
Apply paint to scenic elements with precision and consistency.
Collaborate with other members of the Scenic department to coordinate schedules and meet project deadlines.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper storage and disposal of materials.
Perform routine maintenance on painting equipment and tools and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to painting and construction.
Demonstrated experience with spray applications including HVLP and/or airless.
Experience with filling, sanding, and body work, including use of Bondo, spackle, wood filler.
Proficiency with and understanding of both water-based and solvent-based paints, stains, and clearcoats.
Proficiency in various painting techniques, including but not limited to faux finishing, aging, and distressing.
Basic understanding of color and the ability to mix and match paint colors accurately.
Ability to efficiently manage workload through strategic planning of spray booth space use and timing of coats and colors.
Proven experience as a scenic painter in theater, film, television, or related industries is preferred.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Flexibility to work irregular hours including evening, weekends, and holidays.
Physical stamina and dexterity to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
