Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of our equipment and facilities. This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise and the ability to troubleshoot and repair various systems.
Duties:
· Assisting supervisor with planning and coordinating the maintenance and repair of conveyors, machines, and equipment.
· Ensuring that all work, including work performed by subcontractors, is done in accordance with OSHA regulations and Carter’s safety rules.
· Maintaining good housekeeping and working well with management, peers, and subordinate employees to maximize productivity while minimizing employee conflict.
· Secondary functions (If applicable – any duties not considered essential)
· Maintenance of facility property, not limited to building grounds, HVAC, generators, sprinkler systems, security systems, etc.
· Knowledge, skill, and ability requirements (minimum competencies required for job performance)
· Must be able to use all routine industrial hand tools.
· Must have electrical knowledge.
· Must be able to read and use tape measures, levels, etc.
· Must be able to pass equipment training including scissor lift, stock picker, reach truck, pallet truck, and turret truck.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
· Prior work experience and educational requirements
· High school diploma or GED preferred, not required.
· 1-2 years of maintenance experience.
· PLC Programming
· Expertise in maintaining and repairing material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).
· Understanding of warehouse racking systems and their maintenance requirements.
· Must be available to work in a multi-channel, multi-shift distribution environment, flexible to work different shifts and extended hours based upon business needs.
· Must be able to stand and work for long periods including daily overtime, holidays and overtime as required.
· Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.
· Must be able to repetitively lift cases weighing up to forty pounds.
· Must be able to work in varying to extreme temperatures.
· Holiday schedule to be decided by Management.
· Must be available to work consecutive days in a row (for example 14+ days).
Comply with Blackout Periods (no vacation or personal time allowed) as determined by Management.
Requirements:
- Proficient in English (verbal and written communication skills)
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, precision measuring instruments, and converyor
- PLC knowledge a plus
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Knowledge of high voltage systems is an asset
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
- Ability to fabricate or modify parts using various tools and equipment
