Reliability Engineer
- Conduct detailed analysis of mechanical failures, identify trends, and implement recommended improvements
- Take lead with implementation, review, and improvement with the Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programs
- Manage the prioritization processes for mechanical improvement requirements across site
- serves as the key user for the SAP Maintenance Module, and is responsible for adding/updating assets, Maintenance Plans, BOMs, etc.
- Responsible for capital asset management (asset tagging, retirement of assets, inventory of existing assets)
- Analyzes production upsets and summarizing root causes/possible solutions in a monthly report, along with tracking and reporting key KPIs (Reliability, Operability, FTR, etc.)
- Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes:
o Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
o Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems (Vibration Analysis, IR, Ultrasound, Oil Analysis)
- Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems can include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility, the reliability engineer applies:
o Data analysis techniques that can include:
o Statistical process control
o Reliability modeling and prediction
o Fault tree analysis
o Six Sigma (6σ) methodology
o Root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
o Failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS)
- Works with Production to perform analyses of assets including:
o Asset utilization
o Overall equipment effectiveness
o Remaining useful life
o Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets
- Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel.
- Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions.
About you
5 to 7 years’ experience in manufacturing setting; preferably plastics industry
- Solid business understanding & financial literacy
- Previous SAP PM Module experience is a plus
- Strong motivational leader with proven leadership of teams and demonstrated interpersonal skills
- Successful project management experience.
- Demonstrated reliability metric analysis experience.
- Proficient in English
- Understanding of advanced root cause analysis techniques and methodologies (i.e. Kepner Tregoe, 5 Whys, Apollo), FMEA, Risk Management, Life Cycle Asset Management
- Strong statistics background, with understanding of process control
- Hands-on experience with various modes of failure with large scale manufacturing equipment including Motors, Gearboxes, Bearings, Feeders, Drives, etc.
- Detailed understanding of Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Best practices within the Chemical and Plastics Industry
- Computer literacy, including MS Office, CMMS, CAD (recommended but not essential)
Environment
- Exposed to noise and chemical odors when working in the manufacturing area. The use of minimum PPEs (hard hat, uniforms, goggles, gloves, safety shoes and glasses and hearing protection) is mandatory.
