Job Title: Bus Driver
Miami Country Day School was founded in 1938 as a residential proprietary boarding school for boys through eighth grade and has evolved remarkably over the past 77 years. The School has become a coeducational, nonprofit, interdenominational school with approximately 1,300 students in Pre-Kindergarten 3 through grade 12 representing approximately 44 countries. The school emphasizes the education of the whole person through the core values of honor, respect, wisdom, and compassion.
Job Summary:
The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students to and from school. Has specific knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations, and the precautions necessary to avoid accidents. Ensuring compliance with MCDSs non-negotiable COVID-19 health and safety protocols is crucial.
Essential Functions and Tasks:

Transports students to and from school, following a preplanned route according to a define time schedule.

Regulates A/C equipmemt and ventilation of bus for comfort of passengers.

Ensures a warm, welcoming, and safe environment for the community.

Drives bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations

Assumes responsibility for the safety of school children in loading, unloading and transporting them to and from school.

Instructs children in safety precautions and practices. Signals children when to cross street and assures that children are safely across upon departure from bus.

Maintains discipline and reports unruly behavior to Supervisor.

Responsible for inspecting and sweeping bus.

Responsible for checking water, gas, oil, and mechanical condition before leaving on a run.

Responsible for reporting any delays and accidents.

Maintains operational records, creates simple reports and report any defects or problems to Supervisor.

Responsible for completing various forms and records, including updated route sheets, Paychex time recording, field trips forms, and incident and accident reports.

Perform other related duties as required.

Adhere to established Miami Country Day School policies described in the MCDS Employee Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills, and Physical Requirements:

High School diploma or completion of GED and experience and skill in specific, relevant field of study.

State of Florida CDL License with a passenger endorsement.

Training on highway safety rules and regulations.

Completion of a performance test in school bus operation

Ability to pass an annual physical examination.

Five (5) years of verifiable driving experience.

Current State of Florida drivers license.
-
Good driving record. No DUI conviction in past fifteen (15) years
