Mental Health Technician
Evenings (3pm-11pm), Weekends (7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am) & Graveyard shifts all week long (11pm-7am).
Job Summary:
PRTFs provide 24-hour highly structured services for children and youth between ages 6-17 who are severely emotionally disturbed. Licensed by HCQC and accredited by CARF, services are provided by Medicaid-credentialed staff and include:
- Psychiatric oversight
- Comprehensive psychological assessment, psychiatric evaluation and medication management
- Individual, family, and group psychoeducation and therapy, interactive parent training, guided family visits, recreation therapy, milieu therapy, and crisis intervention
- Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTs) that include the Primary Behavioral Health Provider and essential members of each youth's support network
- Coordination of care, and warm handoffs with community-based services
- Behavior therapy services
- Nursing services The Mental Health Technician is responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients in a psychiatric facility. They will work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health professionals to provide care that is tailored to each patient’s needs and goals. The Mental Health Technician will also be responsible for providing support to the Psychiatry Clinical Services team and assisting with discharge planning. STEIN is a correctional setting. Experienced MHT candidates only, please & willing to work in corrections/high-security environment, no cell phones allowed in the facility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
·Assess patients' mental health, conduct psychological evaluations, and document symptoms on patient chart
·Communicate effectively with patients' primary care physician, social workers, nurses, and other providers to ensure continuity of care
·Collaborate with other providers to ensure continuity of care
·Conduct routine patient assessments, review patient charts, and coordinate care with other providers as needed
·Provide direct supervision of clinical staff as assigned by Clinical Director or Director of Nursing
·Maintain accurate documentation and record-keeping in accordance with agency policies and procedures
·Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding patient confidentiality
·Perform other duties as assigned by management or Director of Nursing
Qualifications:
·High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. College degree preferred.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
