POSITION SUMMARY
Working within a Production Management team, the Associate Production Manager assists and supports the Production Manager and Director of Production with shows and events at Center Theatre Group’s three theatres – the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Kirk Douglas Theatre – and with day-to-day operations and administration of the Production Department. They also take the lead on rentals, smaller-scale productions, and events as assigned by the Director of Production. They are tasked with coordinating work across multiple production areas; facilitating clear and transparent communication between and among Production Staff, other departments, and outside creative teams; and helping ensure that all productions open on time and on budget.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide production support on shows as assigned by the Director of Production. Remain on-site at the theatre for load-in, tech, and preview weeks in rotation with other Production Managers to provide coverage and supervision of the Production Staff. Liaise with the creative team in the absence of the Production Manager.
Create and maintain season calendars; tech, load-in, and load-out schedules; and other production documents. Distribute updates as needed.
Organize and share production information to keep teammates informed and to promote a transparent production process. Create and maintain useful archives of documents from each production for future reference.
Assist the Production Manager on show budgeting and expense tracking. Maintain production budgets and timely reporting of production expenses.
Organize and attend production meetings. Take and distribute notes.
Lead the creation and issuance of all designer contracts. Craft and track designer and assistant designer contracts, fee payments, benefit payments, and reimbursements. Maintain relationship with USA 829.
Check payroll submitted by non-union hourly crew, ensuring it conforms to any applicable work rules before submitting to the Payroll Department for processing. Assist with checking and submitting union crew payroll as needed.
Assist the Director of Production in facilitating the repair, purchase, and upgrade of production equipment.
Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors. Make purchases with a company credit card, track receipts and mileage, and code these expenditures in a prompt fashion.
For smaller-scale productions, rentals, and events, work in conjunction with applicable Production, General Management, and Artistic team members to guide creatives and stakeholders through the production process. This includes providing cost quotes to prospective rental clients, leading internal and external teams through the pre-production and technical rehearsal processes and ensuring appropriate staffing of work calls.
Maintain and promote a safe work environment by following and enforcing all safety regulations, providing safety equipment, training employees on safe practices, reporting incidents, managing record keeping, staying up to date on safety issues, and advising on safety-related policies and decisions.
Collaborate with all staff in the furtherance of Center Theatre Group's goal of being an anti-racist theatre working towards Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for all. Encourage and empower everyone to speak out against racist workplace practices and policies. Participate in organization-wide anti-racism work and incorporate an anti-racist lens into daily practice.
Support the Education and Community Partnerships, Institutional Advancement, and Marketing Departments in furthering their work. This could include teaching workshops, leading tours, discussing behind-the-scenes activities, or taking on interns or apprentices.

Pay: $70,000.32 - $80,000.44 per year
