UAS Operator (RPIC) - Drone Pilot
Flying Lion is currently looking to add qualified sUAS Pilots to the team supporting local Police Departments’ Drone as First Responder (DFR) Programs. This unique program makes the community safer by dramatically reducing on-scene time, de-escalating situations, and protecting citizens and officers through improved situational awareness through the use of sUAS/Drones.
As a DFR Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) you would be responsible for supporting quick call response times and flight safety standards through consistent equipment readiness and maintenance, flight management, and clear communication with the dispatch operator.
Since 2018 DFR Programs have been the most innovative drone integration system in the world and have responded to over 40,000 calls for service. The position allows you to grow your experience and flight time as the RPIC logs all flight hours, including Beyond Visual Line Of Sight (BVLOS) flights.
Flying Lion is looking to hire sUAS Pilots with the right attitude, attention to detail, and a passion for using UAS technology for Public Safety. Good judgement, the ability to work independently, and a grasp of safe UA operating procedures are key to success. We will train for the skills necessary to support our customers’ diverse missions.
Job Duties:
- Monitor in-flight drone performance to ensure overall mission safety
- Maintain visual of drone and airpace during VLOS flights.
- Maintain airspace awareness during BVLOS flights.
- Maintain compliance with FAA rules and guidelines for sUAS Operations.
- Maintain radio communication with the sUAS team
- Troubleshoot the aircraft and network systems to maintain Mission Readiness (Training and Support available).
RPICs requirements:
- Current Part 107 Certificate.
- 30+ flight hours logged (any platform... we will train on the DJI Matrice 300 platform).
- Able to pass a detailed background check.
- Passionate about technology and sUAS use in Public Safety.

- Available to work weekend shifts, night shifts also available

This is not an on-call position, and RPIC must be available to work the assigned shifts at the dispatch locations. **FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE** Part Time, Full Time and On-Call positions available.
