Alamo Biologics, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, is a distributor of high-quality tissue allografts to physicians, dentists, hospitals, surgical clinics, and tissue banks.
We are seeking a full-time Quality Control Specialist for our growing company. This position reports to the Director of Quality.
Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Science or related discipline
Experience: 3-5 years quality experience in Tissue processing or Laboratory setting preferred. Must have working knowledge of PC software applications using Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and other software programs as required
Certification/License: CTBS a plus
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Knowledge: Must maintain knowledge of and perform according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies. Must be knowledgeable in cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and regulatory requirements concerning HCT/P donor suitability criteria, quality control, equipment maintenance and product acceptability.
Skills: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer skills required.
Abilities: Must be professional, detail oriented, self-motivated, innovative, creative, assertive, organized, communicative, and have the ability to work independently. Must be a self-starter, maintain a good working rapport with all departments and able to keep information confidential. Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.
Responsibilities:
- Review donor chart documentation and tissue processing records to ensure compliance and acceptability of processed tissue.
- Perform data entry of tissue processing records into the electronic management system.
- Review of Environmental Monitoring samples and microbiology testing results.
- Prepare and review sample results for irradiation dose mapping and dose audits.
- Perform focused audits of the quality control systems as needed.
- Perform inventory audits of tissue products.
- Perform inspection of final tissue products to ensure quality prior to release to inventory.
- Inspect tissue packaging and labels for completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
- Prepare packages for shipping, complete shipping documentation, and track shipments.
- Receive deliveries, inspect condition of items, and verify packing list.
- Conduct investigations of deviations from standards, identify root causes and develop a corrective action plan.
- Review and communicate root cause and corrective action to stakeholders
- Review and write company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and forms
- Assist Operations in the development, editing and preparation of SOPs and forms in accordance with policies and regulations
- Perform Validation/Verification activities as needed
- Maintain Facility and Equipment Maintenance Records
- Maintain confidentiality of records.
- Perform other duties as assigned
