Writer/Account Specialist for Communications Firm

CV Strategies seeks a talented writer, relationship builder, creative thinker and team player for an account specialist position at a thriving strategic communications consulting firm in the Coachella Valley. We are looking for a full-time dynamic, resourceful, and detail-oriented team member who can provide creative content support to various clients in the public sector, water, education, renewable energy, and other industries. The ideal candidate will be willing to step up when needed and be able to anticipate, prioritize and juggle the workload effectively. You will need to hit the ground running, so previous project management experience is a must!
Candidates should possess robust writing skills, several years of experience working in communications, public affairs or journalism and a degree in a related field. Experience with a communications firm or in communications for the industries we serve is desired. The ideal candidate will be imaginative, thoughtful, ambitious, passionate and a visionary with a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
What You’ll Be Doing
In addition to tracking projects to ensure client needs and deadlines are met, the Account Specialist will be responsible for producing stellar written content and pitching in as needed to support the rest of our 20-member team. Working closely with our account managers and clients daily, this position entails writing and strategy for work with local community members and organizations, elected officials, and various agencies. This is an in-house position working at our Palm Desert office. The schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional evening meetings. Regional travel on a regular basis and occasional extended travel are requirements of the job.
Sample Duties:
· Help clients effectively share their message; Coordinate with staff to produce products that meet the client’s objectives.
· Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and accurate manner via phone, email or chat.
· Support Account Managers with content creation, ad buys, research and social media management.
· Coordinate with design, web and video teams to produce products that meet the client’s objectives.
· Create engaging content for a variety of types of publications, including newsletters, press releases, opinion pieces and editorials, collateral, advertising, video scripts, website, e-blasts, social media, reports and plans.
· Offer creative copy and innovative approaches to delivering information.
· Turn data-heavy information into clear, understandable press releases and opinion pieces.
· Coordinate with vendors for printing and promotional materials.
· Learn new skills and develop resources as necessary to fulfill client requests and needs.
· Strengthen and expand relationships with existing clients.
· File and retrieve records, documents, and reports.
· Help prepare for meetings.
· Accurately record detailed minutes from meetings.
Qualifications
· Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills; knowledge of AP Style
· Work well independently with minimal supervision and be a positive collaborator in team efforts.
· Quick learner, a naturally inquisitive and savvy internet researcher.
· Effective communication, organization, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
· Must possess strong organizational skills.
· Innovative, creative, self-starter with careful attention to detail.
· Capable of managing multiple requests at one time while still meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Requirements
· Three or more years of experience working in communications, public affairs or journalism
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
