Full Job Description

Summary: D.L. Martin Company is a single-owner, two location, privately held manufacturing company with a successful 62 year history of serving our customers. We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with a proven track record in a similar position. This position will report to the Controller and be responsible for a range of accounting and treasury tasks. Basic responsibilities include: executing routine financial processes in a manufacturing environment, producing regular reports as required by stakeholders, ensuring assigned financial records are well maintained, assisting with our month-end financial close processes, analyzing financial data, and helping to identify/implement financial process improvement. This is a “hands-on” position requiring daily interactions with the Controller and other leadership team members.

Essential Duties: All employees are expected to perform the essential functions of the job. The DLM Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned

Financial

Assist in the generation timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Analyze variances and participate in development of corrective actions to address variances as require.
Complete the manufacturing cost transfer process on a weekly basis and prepare monthly cost transfer detail spreadsheets.
Execute and improve accounting processes and activities as assigned. These could include: monthly closing, revenue tracking, inventory and WIP analysis, accounts receivable and payable analysis
Maintain plant-level and business-wide financial scorecards as assigned.
Analyze selected financial results and complete detailed analysis of abnormal results.
Complete bank statement reconciliations.
Manage the employee expense report process.
Assist in month-end procedures, such as preparing and entering journal entries with detailed backup for review by others.
Ensure that assigned daily accounting functions run accurately and smoothly.
Monitor actual capital expenditures and complete post-implementation capital audits to verify forecasted payback and other benefits.

Customer Related

Participate in negotiation of terms with suppliers and customers.
Assist with accounts receivable activities as needed
Provide accounting support to sales management in the development and review of significant customer pricing programs

· Other

Assist the Controller with analysis and management of company property and liability insurance needs.
Coordinate all company insurance policies – Medical, Dental, Liability, etc.
Identify and implement process improvement opportunities that improve the quality of the financial information presented to the organization.

Qualifications Requirements: The employee must be able to perform all essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. Education and/ or Experience:

· Required

BS degree in Accounting required.
Experience in general ledger and financial accounting as well as accounts receivable, credit and collections, accounts payable, customer invoicing and financial reporting
Knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS accounting
Experienced in the use of an ERP system.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills
Unquestioned business ethics, honesty and integrity
Ability to work at a strategic level and detailed task level.

· Desirable

Experience in accounting and finance in a manufacturing environment including product cost accounting, allocation of corporate and plant overhead costs, and physical inventory financial management tasks.
MBA Degree in Business or a Financial Discipline
CMA or CPA certification
Experience working in a government contracting environment.

Location

Onsite in Mercersburg, PA
Occasional remote work is possible (~20%)
